Job Description:
The Dental Resident is an early-career dentist training in the
specialized field of pediatric dentistry, responsible for
delivering comprehensive oral health care to infants, children and
adolescents, and patients with special health care needs. The
resident will gain hands-on experience in providing preventive,
restorative, and emergency dental services, under the supervision
of faculty members. This role involves a combination of clinical
care, didactic learning, and community outreach to develop advanced
competencies in pediatric dentistry.
Essential Functions
- Provide comprehensive dental care under faculty guidance for
pediatric patients, including exams, cleanings, restorative
treatments, and emergency care. Perform procedures such as dental
restorations, extractions, pulp therapy, and space maintenance.
Utilize behavior guidance t echniques to ensure comfort and
cooperation from patients and families.
- Participate in clinical rotations, including hospital-based
experiences in anesthesia , e mergency care , and pediatric
medicine.
- Document patient care accurately in medical records, adhering
to privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Attend lectures, seminars, and case conferences to broaden
knowledge in pediatric dentistry, child development, and patient
management.
- Complete assigned readings, presentations, and case studies as
part of the residency curriculum. Participate in interdisciplinary
case reviews with other healthcare professionals to develop
collaborative skills.
- Conduct research or participate in quality improvement
projects, with opportunities to present findings at conferences or
publish in professional journals. Stay informed on current research
in pediatric dentistry, incorporating evidence-based practices into
patient care.
- Collaborate with faculty and peers to explore areas of interest
in pediatric dental health and contribute to the field's knowledge
base. Build professional relationships with faculty, staff, and
peers to foster a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Engage in regular feedback sessions, self-assessments, and
skill evaluations to support continuous improvement. Attend
professional development workshops, conferences, and continuing
education opportunities to further knowledge and skills in

Required Qualifications
- M ust have matched with the residency program through the
established ADEA application and interview process
- Must have a DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
- Prior to start, resident must obtain ( i ) an unrestricted
license to practice dentistry with a minimum Anesthesia Class B
Permit in Utah; (ii) an unrestricted controlled substance license
in Utah; and (iii) an unrestricted federal DEA certificate for
schedules II-V.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and
collaborate with healthcare professionals
- Strong interest in pediatric dentistry, with a commitment to
compassionate care for children and patients with special
healthcare needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting
- Bi-lingual speaking Spani sh
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal
skills.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly
rate dependent upon experience.
$7.25 - $999.99
